Biologists, are focused on examining the anatomy, physiology and biochemistry of humans, plants, animals and other living organisms and how they function and interact with each other in their natural habitat or environment.  They mostly work in the government sector, university, or private industry specifically pharmaceuticals.  Most Life Scientists are exposed to working under unsafe and unhealthy conditions as they sometimes study dangerous organisms in their natural environment or when they examine toxic substances in the laboratory for long hours.  There are also those who work in the field with primitive living conditions and changing warm and cold weather.  Related occupations include Anatomist, Biochemist, Biotechnologist, Botanist, Marine Biologist, Microbiologist, and Zoologist.

A tertiary qualification in Biology or related field is required to become a Biologist. On-the-job training and relevant work experience are also highly regarded in this field.  Average salaries for Life Scientists vary depending on the industry sector.  In general, however, one can expect a pay range between $66,00 and $85,000 base per annum during the first 5 years of work.

• Minimum of 2 years’ relevant experience within the last 5 years

• Master’s Degree in Biology
