Environmental Consultants or Environmental Scientists are responsible for evaluating, creating, implementing and advising on governmental and local policies and plans for the effective management and protection of our environment, plants and animal life and other natural resources amidst all changes brought about by human activities in the name of modernization. This covers the conservation and preservation of natural habitat, wildlife and fisheries, assessing impacts of air and water pollution, industrialization, and technological advancements on the environment, quality of life, and the general human well-being; promoting awareness on environmental hazards, developing and implementing suggestions to minimize damages and/or mitigate risks for a sustainable future.

From private sector to corporate or government contracts, the job scope and responsibilities of Environmental Scientists vary on the specific industry in which they work.  They can be found in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services; Public Administration and Safety; and Arts and Recreation Services.
